Madison High School is proud to present its Spring Musical, Les Misérables, starting March 26th. The emotional show takes place during the June Rebellion in 19th century France. The main character Jean Valjean, played by Preston Tolbert, must face imprisonment for 19 years after stealing a loaf of bread as a child. After being let out on parole, he decides to flee for a new life while students in France are desperately trying to overthrow the government.

Senior Jess Schuszler joins the cast for her final time and stars as Eponine. This is her fourth musical with the school and her eighth production. “This show is really different from anything we’ve done recently because it’s tragic and I think it’s awesome for the cast to experience a different and more challenging kind of acting,” Schuszler told MDO exclusively. She feels “bittersweet” towards her last play at Madison, but is excited for the new opportunities college will bring.

The cast includes a wide variety of age groups, and that is something that Schuszler holds close to her heart. “Being in the play with students from each grade has allowed me to gain great friendships that I probably would not have made if I wasn’t in the play. My freshman sister is in the ensemble and it’s really nice to spend time with her at the practices,” Schuszler described.

The cast includes senior Preston Tolbert as Jean Valjean, sophomore Matt Adamo has Javert, senior Jess Schuszler as Eponine, sophomore Ransom Silliman as Marius, junior Grace McCulloch as Fantine, and junior Morgan Sanchez as Cosette.

The opening night is March 26th at 6:30 and the show will run again on the 27th at 7:30 and the 28th at 2:00 and 7:00.
