7 Highly Anticipated Movies of 2015

The Hunger Games film series will wrap in November.

After a huge start to the year in the field of movies with films such as 50 Shades of Gray, Blackhat, and The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, there is still much more to be expected.

  1. Insurgent

First, the sequel to last year’s Divergent will be released March 20th. The novel-to-movie adaptation follows Tris (Shailene Woodley), Four (Theo James), and others who are on the run from Jeanine (Kate Winslet), a power hungry Erudite. They look for answers and allies in the ruins of Chicago, ultimately discovering the secrets of the past and unraveling the future.

  1. The Avengers: Age of Ultron

The next Avengers movie will be released May 1st featuring its usual cast directed by Joss Whedon. In the movie, Tony Stark attempts to jump-start an inactive peacekeeping program, but when things go wrong the Avengers must stop Ultron and his evil plans.

  1. Pitch Perfect 2

Directed by Elizabeth Banks, and starring Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, and more, the sequel to Pitch Perfect makes its debut in the upcoming months. On May 15th, the Barden Bellas return to enter in an international a cappella competition no American team has ever won.

  1. Minions

The spin-off of Despicable Me (2010) and Despicable Me 2 (2013) is an animated comedy set to be released July 10th. The villain Scarlet Overkill is voiced by Sandra Bullock who is met by three minions searching for a new master.

  1. Paper Towns

Another novel-to-movie adaptation based on John Greens’ book Paper Towns which is set to be shown July 24th. In her first movie, model Cara Delevigne will play Margo Roth Spiegelman along with Nat Wolff as Quentin Jacobsen.

  1. Spectre

Another James Bond movie starring Daniel Craig will be released November 6th, bringing to the screen James Bond on a mission to uncover a sinister organization while M fights political forces that want to shut down the British secret service.

  1. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part Two

Finally, on November 20th, the second part of the Hunger Games series’ Mockingjay will be shown. Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen will face deadly circumstances in an attempt to assassinate President Snow after leaving District 13.
