Crowds of people screaming, chanting, chatting. The entire room is too loud and too hot to do anything besides stand and soak it all in. This isn’t a protest, this is Madison’s own Fall Pep Rally. The Pep Rally occurred on Friday, October 11th and lasted for approximately 40 minutes. There was a great energy from each grade during the Pep Rally, each cheering for their tug-of-war team as the seniors took the victory over the sophomores, who had won the year prior. This energy quickly deteriorated after the Emcee’s Morgan Smith, Abby Chopoorian and Libby Johnson announced that the Pep Rally was over. Having surveyed many people, most stated that the pep rally “felt very rushed” or “cut short” in some way.
Some of the activities were scrutinized as well. Many of the people agreed that the tug-of-war was the favorite activity, with Doug’s band The Dairy Farmers being the favorite of the remaining people. One MHS student recommended that the teachers should be more involved, though most students mentioned the amount of time the Pep Rally took.
Overall, the Pep Rally was a huge success for the Student Council and promoted many sports teams with upcoming games, especially the Field Hockey team and the Boy’s Soccer team, who both have Morris County Tournament Semi-Final games this coming weekend.
Come support the Field Hockey team as they verse Mendham High School at 2:30pm at Boonton High school and support the Boy’s Soccer team against Kinnelon High school at 12:00pm at Randolph High school.
