Welcome back, MHS! The staff of the Dodger hit the ground running this year. We began by collaborating as a staff and compiling many stories from over the summer into our “Summer 2014 in Review,” an essential list of political, social, and global news that you may or may not have heard about over the summer. If you’re in need of a brief review, check out the article.
The Dodger is gearing up for a very exciting year. We have plenty of new ideas planned to make your online reading experience more enjoyable than ever. Last year, the student body voiced their desire for more student interest articles and student life stories. Because our focus is on our readership, we are taking this to heart: we ask that our readers submit their interests by email at [email protected] so our staff can cover the stories you want to hear about!
We will also publish monthly editorials on the comings and goings of MHS! In a similar vein, we will have monthly Student Spotlight articles. Any students with interesting hobbies, work, or programs are welcome to share their stories with us!
Our staff will be compiling weekly “Staff Picks” of world news articles that we think are relevant or at the very least interesting to the student body. Be sure to check out that page as it is filled with our suggestions for further reading!
We are very lucky to have so many experienced writers on staff but unfortunately, this time next year, nearly half our staff will have graduated. If you are interested in writing for the Dodger but are not in the Journalism class, feel free to contact Shira Buchsbaum or Mrs. Bergen, the MDO advisor, to share your article ideas. Any art students interested in creating semi-regular or regular comic strips for MDO are welcome to pitch their ideas. We would love to feature your work!

Lots of great ideas here! The overview of the summer is a really great addition to the paper. I speak for Maura and myself when I say that we’re super excited to see how MDO evolves this year. Good luck everyone!
