Norah Murphy is a senior at Madison High School headed to Parsons School of Design for the 2014-2015 academic year. Given Norah’s reputation as a fashionista, Madison Dodger Online decided to conduct an interview with her about her interest in fashion.
MDO: How would you describe your personal style?
NM: That’s difficult because it changes every day. It’s hard to describe. Sophisticated yet edgy.
MDO: What is your favorite item of clothing?
NM: I really am obsessed with this velvet crop top that I have from Brandy Melville and this silver chain necklace from H&M.
MDO: When did you know you were interested in fashion?
NM: When I was seven years old! I watched That’s So Raven. I was obsessed with her; she was so cool.
MDO: Is there anyone you look to for fashion inspiration?
NM: Yes! Rachel Zoe, Zoe Suggy, and any other YouTube beauty gurus.
MDO: Is there anywhere you particularly like shopping? What are your favorite brands?
NM: I like shopping at Urban Outfitters, Brandy Melville, H&M, and PacSun.
MDO: What do you do in your free time?
NM: In my free time, I do ballet and watch Netflix and YouTube videos of people doing outfits and makeup and things like that.
MDO: What was your prom dress shopping experience like?
NM: I knew the exact dress that I wanted. When I went to the store, they didn’t have it in my size so I was searching through the racks for other dresses but I found the dress that I wanted hidden in between two dresses. I ended up getting that one. It’s high-neckline sheer with white floral appliqués and an A-line bottom made of chiffon material.
MDO: Do you have a portfolio?
NM: I do have a portfolio because I took five classes at FIT but I didn’t need to send it in because my major is more fashion-business oriented.
