The buzz that surrounds the talent show can be heard weeks before the Talent Show takes place. MHS students seem to ask every person that is involved to get any information about the show. These students usually end up coming to the show not even knowing what the acts are. The MC’s and Coach Lynott did a great job of keeping the events of the show secret to let the excitement to build.
This year’s talent show was again a great success. The 2014 senior class put on a great show. The four hosts Jane Collins, Tiffany Cecere, “Wilmo” Mottola, and Adin Makowsky made hilarious jokes and videos that had the whole crowd laughing. Many of the senior girls got together and made t-shirts, making the night even more special. Every single performer that took the stage showcased something very special. Matt Haughey and Andy Jung both played and sung on the piano and guitar. Abby Riley and Patty Doyle both individually took the stage and sung to the crowd. Georgia Turvey and Elizabeth Turnbull sang a duet as AJ Ding accomonied them on the piano. Morgan Sanchez and Grace McCollough fought through technical sound problems, but still both sang beautifully. Jared Cummings seemed to have two pairs of hands as he skillfully played the piano. This year the talent show had two bands that both brought the crowd to its feet. Doug Whitte and his band brought the crowd to a roar with two great songs. Doug truly became one with his music and got lost in the moment. Brian Rigby’s band took the stage in a truly magnificent way. The music started but no one new where it was coming from. Just as people started to get confused Rigby jumped up onto the front of the stage and truly became a rock star. The crowd went crazy. Rigby sung his heart out and even played with his teeth. Though all of these acts were amazing, Jay Oh and Justin Kemp truly stole the show and ended up winning. Every performer deserves a great amount of respect for the amount of courage that it took to take the stage.
The talent show ended with the traditional slide show of pictures of the seniors through out the years. This part of the show is very special to the entire senior class because it closes a chapter in their lives that many will never forget. The slides take all the seniors through a roller coaster ride of their lives ending with a wonderful high school career.
