Super Bowl XLVIII will be played at Metlife Stadium on February 2, 2014. The first cold weather Super Bowl promises to be a nail biter, with the Denver Broncos superior offense going up against the Seattle Seahawks impregnable defense. Both teams finished the season with a record of 13-3 and impressive statistics. Both teams are the number 1 seeds from each conference, and they are both well prepared to brave the cold weather and go head to head for New Jersey’s first ever Super Bowl.
With the average ticket price reaching $3,715, up from $2,525 last year, it isn’t surprising that people are willing to pay up to $10,557 for one ticket. People from the surrounding towns around East Rutherford are putting their homes on Craigslist for upwards of $1,500 a night. For many, however, potato skins and 7 layer dip in front of a flat screen is much more enticing. After all, a huge loss occurred at the Super Bowl this year when making security decisions. A no-flame, no-gas policy was implemented as well as strict limitations on other tailgating practices. Although many avid football fans are upset, the dedicated tailgaters that contribute to football’s culture are devastated.
Needless to say, Super Bowl XLVIII will be much different than years past, but it’s sure to be a great game that over 100 million people will be tuning in to watch.
