Seven years after Madeleine McCann went missing during a vacation in Portugal with her parents, the Crown Prosecution Service has sent officers to the country to arrest three burglars in suspicion of having information on McCann’s disappearance. One day prior to Madeleine’s kidnapping, these three men were caught inside the house of another vacationing family.
Madeleine, who was three at the time, was on vacation in the coastal town of Praia da Luz with her parents Gerry and Kate. Gerry and Kate were suspects in the case at one point but were cleared in 2008. The McCanns were out to dinner while their three children slept in their vacation home unattended.
In the hours following Madeleine’s disappearance, the cell phones of the three new suspects were active with phone calls to and from each other. The investigators have yet to receive permission from Portugal to make arrests on Portuguese soil.
Madeleine’s parents remain hopeful that their oldest daughter will be found, but are remaining calm as these important events transpire.
