For the first time in three years, a different powerhouse football team in Alabama got its chance to show the nation what its team had. The Auburn Tigers entered the game against the Florida State Seminoles coming off one of the greatest finishes in college football history, beating the Crimson Tide on the last play of the game, but still having to face the Red shirt Freshman Quarterback Jameis Winston. The game pitched two very different coaches against one another who brought two very different offensives to the table.
Auburn was fighting an uphill battle from the start, not even being considered as a victor in most of the country’s mind, but in the first half the Tigers blew these critics out of the water. The Tigers utilized their extremely fast-paced and quick offense to put the Florida State Seminoles back to the drawing board. The next god of the quarterback position, Jameis Winston, looked lost on the field, hitting the ground without his lineman blocking anybody. Florida State could not handle the fast pace of the game that the Tigers were throwing them. The Tigers went into the clubhouse at half-time with a comfortable 21- 10 lead.
Any fan of college football and especially fans of the Tigers and Seminoles know that these teams do not stop until all the lights on the scoreboard are blown out. The Seminoles came out with a new passion and the Tigers wanted to keep the ball rolling. The game quickly turned in the Seminoles favor, and Jameis Winston began to show the country why he deserved the Heisman Award as a freshman. He displayed his cannon arm and his huge stature took the game under his control.
Even with Jameis Winston coming into form, the Seminoles still had a hole to climb out of. The game was destined to come down to the final play. Jameis Winston didn’t disappoint the world when he threw a touchdown pass in the final seconds, cementing his legacy in college football.
