“If one day the speed kills me, do not cry because I was smiling.” Proclaimed the famous “The Fast and the Furious” actor, Paul Walker, who ironically died in a car crash this past Saturday afternoon, November 30, 2013. Walker loved racing, and died doing what he loved, his last “joy-ride” being behind the wheel of a Porsche Carrera. At around 3 p.m. on Saturday the car went out of control, striking a poll where Walker and his friend, who was driving, were announced dead at the scene. The cause of the crash is unknown, all we know is that the vehicle was particularly difficult to maneuver, and that speed was certainly a factor.
Walker starred in five of the six “The Fast and the Furious” as Brian O’Conner. The films were about illegal street racing and heists. A seventh installment was in development, according to Universal, the studio behind the success. The cast was said to have been half way done filming at the time of Walker’s death, and after the cast and crew have had a chance to grieve, the movie will make its next steps towards developing with Walker’s death being included. The most recent film, released in May, was one of this year’s biggest box office hits.
Prior to the crash Walker was at a charity event to benefit his organization Reach Out Worldwide, which sends first responders to the scenes of natural disasters. Walker’s fans, friends, and family continue to grieve and mourn over the loss of the talented actor and great man who left the world too soon.
