This past Saturday the Madison Dodger football team played a nail biting game that unfortunately ended their run in the playoffs. For the past four years in the playoffs the Dodgers have won nine games and only lost one, which occurred on Saturday. This year was a hard fight for the team as they lost two games during the regular season and needed to bounce back. However, the Dodgers didn’t go down easy, as the game on Saturday was one of the most suspenseful and close games the Dodgers have ever played.
The Dodgers started off down by six points in the first quarter, but didn’t lose hope. Quickly, it was tied it up to a score of 14- 14 by the second quarter. In the third quarter, Lincoln came on top with a score of 28- 20, and the fans were getting nervous. With 1:46 left on the clock, senior, Noah Gertler, scored a 61-yard touchdown run and the crowd went wild. The Dodgers had one last chance left after recovering the on-side kick, but Lincoln forced a fumble and stole the win.
Madison had its fair share of doubts regarding the Dodger Football team this year, but they proved people’s doubts wrong. The Dodgers gave their division all they had this year and worked harder than ever to make it as far as they could. Although the seniors will leave with three rings as opposed to four, they’ll know they gave it their all and worked as hard as they could.
