As the year goes on and the weather gets colder, gym classes have had to mold their curriculum to keeping it indoors. Coach Lynott and Radzieski aren’t resorting to the old tactic of sending us to dilly-dally in the weight room, but rather are doing their best to keep gym active and fun.
Lynott’s period two gym class has just recently finished their rugby unit. At first, the students were hesitant to play a sport that they were unfamiliar with and didn’t want to spend time learning it. Lynott had a good feeling about the sport, and in no time his class picked it up. Students from the class raved about rugby and got really into it, more so than any of Lynott’s other classes.
Yoga is the next topic that both Lynott’s and Radzieski’s classes are participating in. Yoga takes place in either the auxiliary gym or the wrestling room and has quickly become very popular among students. Radzieski’s classes follow both a video and he himself, as he surprised students with his yoga capabilities. Lynott isn’t as virtuous when it comes to the activity, so his students follow the video, or even a guest yoga instructor. Senior Elizabeth Turnbull’s own Mother came into school and taught period two’s yoga lesson.
Students from that class and all gym students in general have had nothing but good things to say from the new gym curriculum. Senior, Norah Murphy, claims “I never liked gym until this year, like I actually look forward to it.”
Lynott and Radzieski have been putting forth their best effort to make gym fun this year and are doing a great job at it.
Soon to come to seniors and juniors is Lynott’s infamous sex ed class, which he refers to as “How Well Do You Know Your Penis or Vagina?”
