The Dodgers won 42 – 14 Friday night under the lights against the Hackettstown Tigers. Madison touch-downs were scored by Christian Scarpello, David Luttinger and Scott Taylor. All scores came off rushes.
After a bye week, the Dodgers had a lot of time to think about their streak-ending loss to Hanover Park. Until then, Madison had been perfect for nearly 40 games since 2009. Still, the community rushed to let their team know that they would never give up on them.
Dodger Nation, the Facebook fan page with nearly 900 likes was quick to reassure their Dodgers on September 28th, posting:
“Congrats to all the DODGERS on a 39 game winning streak!
It had to end sooner or later!
Win with class and lose with class!
DODGER NATION is behind you always!
Lets get back to work!”
A new Madison resident commented on the post saying “Can I just say that as a new resident (1 year) to Madison, that I am so glad we decided to relocate here! The sense of community is amazing, and exactly what we were looking for!”
Even after the heart breaking loss, Ted Monica Stadium seemed just as packed as always on Friday night when the Dodgers came down the hill for the traditional ‘Dodger Walk.’ The team, decked out in pink for breast cancer support, came ready to take care of business.
Senior wide reciever Christian Scarpello ran for an incredible 82-yard punt return for his touchdown of the night. Junior fullback David Luttinger carried for a pair of rushing touchdowns and Senior running back Scott Taylor finished with a final touchdown to close out the night. Junior kicker Austin Sterkel also finished successfully on all kick attempts.
The Dodgers go on to play Jefferson away on Friday night at 7pm.

It is amazing that the football team has been doing well recently. It was unfortunate that their 40 game winning streak was broken by Hanover Park, but they still are such a great team. good luck dodgers
