The week of the lights is the highlight of many students’ year. It is an enjoyable week that schedules MHS’s Varsity Sports games in the evenings, instead of directly after the school day, enabling more fans and athletes to attend. Somehow volleyball has never been a part of this tradition of playing while many of their peers watch from the stands. “Since our practices are usually during other sports’ practices, we don’t have a ton of fans,” junior Ally Shahidi said.
To show MHS still supports our volleyball team, many other sports teams are going to Volleyball’s game this Saturday night even though it is an away game. It is in Roxbury at 7pm, but they will be playing Mendham. It is the semi-final match in the Morris County tournament so it is a big game for the team. Starter Olivia Alexander is excited for the game. “We love to watch the other teams to show school spirit,” she stated, “ We would really appreciate it if people come to our game since it’s really important to all of us!”
The volleyball team was initially upset about not having an under the lights game, but the support being shown by other teams has turned their perspective around. Come show your support Saturday, October 12, at 7 pm in Roxbury.
