We all remember those awful middle school dances. Uncomfortable preteens arrive in their very best outfits and awkwardly stand around until, slowly, a trend starts to emerge. The crowd splits. A “magnetic” force begins to repel the sexes and the pubescent teens avoid all possible contact, body and eye included. Teachers hover around the dance floor that doubles as the smelly gym. They wait to catch students dancing “inappropriately,” to remind them to leave room enough for a large balloon when slow dancing. All of the sudden, the DJ flips on the strobe lights and starts playing all the very best songs off the billboard top 100.
Senior Tommy Anderson was clearly moved by these wonderful experiences, because he decided to become a disc jockey himself a few months ago. He has always enjoyed creating and listening to music, so when the opportunity to purchase DJ equipment and a set of lights came up, he took it. Tommy took his good ear for music and turned it into his own business. As his business continues to grow, he has acknowledged the fiscal payoffs and the great experiences he has gotten out of being a local DJ. Madison Junior School recently hired Tommy to DJ the middle school dances, and he could not be more excited. Furthermore, Tommy has been hired to DJ for local sweet 16’s and Bar/Bat Mitzvahs in the upcoming year. Tommy loves his job and insists he will “put on the best show you’ve ever seen at a great price.”
