The Superbowl is usually the first Sunday in February, but this year it’s making way to Madison much earlier than expected. The Madison High School P.E. program is hosting its own version of the Superbowl, within the individual gym periods, playing flag-football rather than tackle football. “The students are really getting into their individual games and going all out, sweating, high-fiving, and really trying their hardest. “It’s nice to see everyone participating and getting into it,” said Coach Lynott.
While walking through the auxiliary gym hallway one can hear the murmurs of who scored a touchdown, who had a bad play, who’s winning, and who’s losing. There’s always been the option of being able to walk the track, and the students who are choosing that option are now switching to play football, in hopes of winning against their classmates.
Lynott envisions to have classes continue to play each other, until there’ s a winning team from every class. He wants to then have MHS’s own Superbowl. Lynott plans to have the winners from the different classes play the winners from other classes, leading up to one team as the winner of the whole school. The senior class also plans to have a flag-football fundraiser school-wide, possibly teaming up with Lynott’s Superbowl idea.
