Mexico has long been in a state of chaos due to it’s many drug cartels running rampant throughout the country, terrorizing the citizens, and making billions off of illegal narcotics. The members of the cartel frighten the innocent people of Mexico into paying protection money and even charge fees for something as simple as having children or harvesting their crops. However, in the state of Michoacan, the civilians are fighting back against their oppressors, taking the law into their own hands. Rebel militias composed entirely of civilians have formed in response to the cartels running unchecked for so long. These self-proclaimed cartel fighters have armed themselves with stolen firearms from raids on cartel outposts and have set themselves in striking back and protecting their homes.
However, there is some controversy surrounding these newfound militias. The Mexican Government openly opposes these self-defense organizations, claiming that they take jobs for the cartels. They go on to say that they believe that the cartels have an alliance with some of the militias, which would pose an even greater threat to the people of Mexico.
Given that the Mexican government has taken little to no serious action in order to directly oppose the drug cartels, it draws into question their legitimacy in tackling the problem. The newly formed militias were created by frightened citizens in response to being terrorized by the cartels so the government’s accusations that the two opposing groups could be allies seems very unfounded. It is no secret that the cartel has select government officials in their pocket in order to protect their best interests, but the fact that the government is willing to literally throw their citizens under the bus in order to protect the cartels and save face is astounding. The people of Mexico already have enough on their plate with the awful living conditions and the cartel constantly extorting them, but the complete lack of ownership being displayed by their own government in their time of need is the icing on the cake.

This is an interesting article and it is so bad that the Mexican government has virtually no care for their citizens considering that do not try to stop the violent drug cartels. The citizens of Mexico are probably very upset because of their corrupt government and living conditions.
