The Dodger boy’s soccer team lost 3-2 to Dayton in a competitive overtime thriller Wednesday. Dodger Goals were scored by junior stand-out John Miller and young sophomore talent, Schuyler Fuchsman.
The team is young this year, but “a state championship is the expectation,” says starting goalie and senior Captain Reid Collins. Collins, a two-sport athlete who also plays goalie in lacrosse, is no stranger to his fellow teammates regardless of it being his first year starting at goalie this season. “I’m really confident and comfortable with the guys in front of me this year,” the Captain says, “I’ve played with some of them for nearly ten years in school, recreation, and just playing around outside of practice.”
“It’s a good mix of young talent and older leadership this season,” says Collins on the team make up. “We will make a significant run into the post season. There are just a few things that still need to come together.”
An unofficial starting line up has been put together by the Dodger below:
Goal Keep: Reid Collins (Sr)
Defense: Kiel Amaral (Sr), Luke Rosica (Sr), Alan Aguirre (Fr), Tim Azzolini (So)
Midfield: Yorman Cosme (Jr), Cole Crescas (Jr), Jared Waksman (Jr), Nick Schraft (So)
Striker: Jon Miller (Jr), Schyler Fuchsman (So)
Player to Watch:
“A guy to look for on our offense is Dylan Anderson. He’s easily the fastest guy on the field and he creates a lot of trouble for defenders with his speed.” – Reid Collins
