Alex Rodriguez may not be in the New York Yankee’s lineup for quite a while, and it isn’t because of his recent hip surgery. Rodriguez, along with 19 other MLB players, has been targeted for allegedly using performance-enhancing drugs.
These allegations are coming to light through the downfall of “Biogenesis of America”, an anti-aging clinic in Miami. The founder, Tony Bosch, has agreed to converse with the MLB about the players that may have used these drugs in his clinic. Apparently, Bosch even personally injected Rodriguez with banned substances. Initially, Bosch did not agree to talk to MLB, but after they sued him, he changed his mind.
Rodriguez is facing a possible 100-game suspension, for using banned drugs and for lying about it. Rodriguez, though unable to play at the moment, is the highest paid MLB player. How this drama will effect his status is still unknown.
When asked about the issue, Rodriguez said, “The last thing anybody in a uniform needs right now is another distraction, and I am not going to be one.”
Time will tell whether Alex Rodriguez is right, and what kind of effect this possible suspension will have on the team.
