Eight acts performed on Wednesday night at the MHS senior talent show. Amidst the packed auditorium, four emcees introduced each performance: Devin Koep, Brett Spelker, Emily Beaman, and Rachel Massaro.
Becca Johnson performed KT Turnstall’s “Black Horse and a Cherry Tree”. Though she had originally planned to use a loop station to cover the background vocals and tambourine, due to technical problems she was forced to perform without it, instead asking Libby Johnson to cover the tambourine and background vocals.
Kevin Choi and Dan Ahn danced to PSY’s “Gangnam Style”, much to everyone’s supreme enjoyment, and came in at second place.
Will Wraith performed “Wonderwall” by Oasis, aided by David Luttinger’s cajón. His moving rendition swayed the audience.
Ms. Wally sang “For Good” from Wicked, with McKayla Goodwin’s piano accompaniment. She was the first non-music teacher to perform at an MHS senior talent show.
After the intermission, Sean Haughey sang and played “New York State of Mind”, a Billy Joel classic.
Jesse Klein and Justin Kemp performed a mix of Simon & Garfunkel’s “Cecelia” and Fun’s “Some Nights”. They used a loop station, and played at least seven different instruments during their act, coming in first for the talent show.
Then Wilmo and the Madison football team made a surprise entrance, much to the seniors’ entertainment.
To close the night off, Patty Doyle also played guitar and sang. She performed her own song, “Binders”.
