Every year, the senior talent show is one event that MHS students definitely look forward to. The talent show is advertised by Coach Lynott’s booming voice over the loudspeaker as the awaited evening approaches when all seniors (decked out in black) sit in the auditorium to view the talent show for the last time. Our emcees this year have a tough job ahead of them in order to top last year’s show.
The talent show is filled with jokes about what has happened over the years, and I can honestly say that this senior class has a lot of funny material to work with. From certain student antics to funny look-a-likes and, of course, some amazing MHS talent. I sat down with the man behind the curtain, our own Coach Lynott for the inside scoop.
There are going to be some changes this year:
First of all, the date of our beloved talent show has been moved to May 1st!
We will also have 2 surprise acts this year that are being kept under wraps, to be revealed the night of the talent show. When asked if he could reveal anything about them, Lynott replied that I’d have to come to see the show to find out. Among other things we chatted about, I asked how this year’s show has compared to last year’s.
One of the biggest differences was that finding emcees for this year was extremely difficult for Coach Lynott. As he described it, “Like pulling teeth.” In past years there were so many auditions, it was difficult for him to choose!
Thankfully, we did find 4 amazing emcees this year, so we’re saved. Though a shout out and piece of advice to the class of 2014: don’t be afraid to audition! …Or Lynott will find you!
As with every year however, there was no shortage of interested acts. Although some underclassmen were confused and assumed they could not participate. You don’t have to be a senior, so for those underclassmen who want to audition next year, start practicing! Only the best make the cut for those coveted 8 spots.
