Wednesday, March 13th, Madison’s girls lacrosse took on the number two team in the state on their opponent’s turf (literally) for their first scrimmage of the 2013 season. Senior captains include Ali Jago and Jill Lennon. Ali Jago is currently unable to play, nursing a post wisdom teeth injury. Jago said she “didn’t feel very confident going into the game,” crediting Madison’s lack of preparation to the weather and inability to practice outside on the field. Madison lost 20 to 1, the only goal scored by junior Michelle Montagna. “We didn’t really play as a team,” explained Jago.
Although the Dodgers aren’t satisfied with their first scrimmage, they are looking forward to a more promising season. There are a lot of skilled players on the team this year, including 3 year varsity player and senior captain, Jill Lennon. “We have a lot of tough scrimmages that aren’t in our conference, but it’s preparing us for the state tournament and we expect to do very well in our conference this year” says Lennon. Today, March 15th, girls lacrosse will take on Morris Catholic for their second scrimmage of the season. How does Jill Lennon think the team will do? “Decent.” #winning
