Diane Fastiggi (DF) is the mastermind behind the upcoming Harlem Wizards basketball game fundraiser and was kind enough to allow the Madison Dodger (MD) to interview her, to educate those who are uneducated on the event.
MD: How would you describe this event to someone who’s never heard of it?
DF: I think it’s an amazing night of fun, the Harlem Wizards come and play against teachers in our schools. They just have a lot of fun, the Wizards joke with all the players, they do all their tricks that they’re so known for. It’s just a night full of fun.
MD: Where and when is it?
DF: It is this Thursday, March 14th. We are hosting it in our high school gym.
MD: So, who exactly is involved?
DF: The wizards come to play the teachers of Madison. Not just from the high school, they’re teachers playing from every school all over the Madison district.
MD: How much money do you expect to make?
DF: Well, two years ago we made $4,000, so we hope to make at least that.
MD: Where can people buy tickets?
DF: They can buy them here in the nurse’s office, and we hope to presale them at all of the elementary school in the afternoon, or you can simply buy them online.
MD: How did you come up with such a fun idea?
DF: Actually, it had been done in the past and we needed another effective fundraiser, so we’ve been doing it every other year since 2005.
MD: Thank you for your time and we hope the game is a success!
