I love exams week. No, seriously, I do. There’s something awesome about not having class, homework, and only having exams. I know some of my fellow classmates might not agree; as a collective whole, our parents are biannually forced to deal with blank stares, short tempers, and increased stress from offspring during exams week. But throughout high school, I’ve found the entire process relaxing.
Exams are stressful. But the fact that you can only spend so long studying is somehow liberating; after a certain point, there’s no more work to be done. This year, I only had four midterms. I could only study for two of them: calculus and statistics. So I found myself with significantly more free time than I normally had.
“I feel like it’s kind of like a vacation if you put in the work ahead of time,” one sophomore said. Another senior admitted that she “had more free time during midterms week.” However, for others, the midterms marked a whole new nightmare. “I had to stay up every night studying for tests that were really important,” one junior confessed. So while exams may be fun for some, they’re just another headache for others.
